Today I got as far as the abandoned sand quarry which is now just a beautiful lake. There was a crested grebe here on the water the last few times I visited. No sign of it today but then I didn’t go beyond my fifteen minutes in search of it.
Some people floated around in hot air balloons. There was no wind, the balloons just hung there.
And, disappointingly, none of the balloons were engulfed in flames with screaming tourists plummeting from the baskets. So I went home and had some tea.
